Hacienda Monasterio Ribera del Duero DO 2014 - red

Dark garnet red. The nose is made up of fine black berries and exotic spices, floral notes and an attractive minerality. On the palate it is fruity and succulent. A crisp acidity and perfectly integrated tannins with the ripe fruits maintain the balance. An absolute top vintage for this timeless classic from the Ribera del Duero. Vinified in a steel tank, subsequently aged for 18 months in up to 30% new, French barrels. Hacienda Monasterio belongs to the modern pioneers in the Ribera del Duero with its strong chalky vineyards. Alongside the Tempranillo, the hillside location is stocked with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec. The entire grape good is gained from certified biological cultivation.

Peter Sisseck, the responsible oenologist at Hacienda Monasterio since 1990, is supported by Carlos de la Fuente, his ambitious cellar master who has significantly contributed to the style development of the wines. Sisseck and de la Fuente understand how to perfectly capture the extreme terroir in the succulent, fruity and impressively mineral wines. Barely any Ribera house exhibits a comparable intensity and elegant concentration in its wines as Hacienda Monasterio.
